The newly established Teachers Continuous Training Institute (TCTI),
in Biase,
Cross River State,
which kicked off last year is set to be a leading teacher educational
institution in Nigeria with the capacity to retrain 500,000 Primary and Secondary School teachers in Nigeria.
The Deputy Director General of Teachers Continuous
Training Institute, Mrs Mary Omaji made the call on the
retraining workshop organized by the Director of Academic
and Professional Services, Dr. Godwin Ogar on the 21st
February, 2022 in the Academic Boardroom of the Institute.
Mrs Mary Omaji said the decision of the Management to
retrain TCTI Science Teachers and Laboratory
Technologists is to ensure that they are properly trained to
handle the equipment and students of the Institute's
Demonstration Secondary School to meet the 21 st century
international standard of learning.
She however
commended the Director General Prof. Taoheed
Adedoja and the Director of Academic and Professional
Services for the rare privilege granted to the Science
Teachers and Laboratory Technologists.
Mrs. Omaji noted that it was the first time staff who are
yet to be confirmed are trained.
Similarly, the Director of Academic and Professional
Services advised the trainees to pay attention to the
trainings with utmost focus.
Meanwhile, the facilitators and the trainees were led to
various laboratories for practical teaching and learning.

Facilitator for Physics
- Mr Tangban Ebagu Ebagu
Facilitator for Chemistry
- Mr Anipi Gabriel Esidene
Facilitator for Biology
- Mr Ibor Usan Ofem
Facilitator for Agricultural Science
The training topics were the identification of equipment
in the laboratories, preparation of reagents, application
of laboratories to teaching and learning, and safety
measures for users.
The training exercise was successful as the Facilitator's
carried out practical with the trainees at various
laboratories.
The Director of Academic and Professional Services
thanked the facilitators for honoring the invitation from
the Institute
